9 and 10 Year Old Boys Leagues Combining

The Keystone Board of Directors has made an exciting change to our league structure that we want to share with you immediately in anticipation of a great year in 2010! The Board has voted to combine the nine and ten-year-old baseball divisions into one group effective next year on Field #2. We feel that this change will increase the level of competition across the age groups and, along with the lights installed last season and the scoreboard being installed this fall, will create a positive experience for all the players.

This change will also allow nine year olds to be selected for the minor (9-10) District All Star Team, provided they have reached the age of nine years old by the Little League age cutoff date of April 30, 2010. We will still continue to offer our usual age specific All Star post-season opportunities as we have in the past and Keystone Cobra select baseball opportunities, which are based on specific age groups established by USSSA.

This combined group will be subject to the player draft requirement as determined by the Board of Directors. The tryouts for this group have been set for March 14th, 2009 INSIDE at the Ultimate Baseball Academy at 120th & I Street. Time is TBD. As always, every player that registers will be drafted by a team; the tryout process is only used to help create competitive balance among teams.

Please contact Dave Arkfeld, the 9-10 baseball division VP, at
darkfeld@tconl.com with any questions regarding this change. We look forward to seeing you at the fields next year!
